Productivity is defined as obtaining the desired outcome with much lesser time and efforts. It is not just being busy all the time; rather it is about getting work done smartly. It is more about smart work than hard work.

Productivity is an equivalent term as efficiency when we talk about humans and machines. And when we talk about efficiency, it is almost impossible to obtain 100% efficiency from a machine, it can only be enhanced. That is what differentiates a human and a machine. With the right environment, efforts and engagement humans have the potential to unbind that deep-lying energy within them.

The work environment is changing; offices are opting work from home as the solution to save the business and in the quest of maintaining the work-life balance many employees feel that their productivity has deeply been affected. As we go ahead with our attempts to find that balance, let us discuss a few ways which can help us unleash that potential and help us enhance our productivity.

We are what we see and what we hear and the two factors that help us enhance our productivity are the colours around us and the music we listen to.

How colours influence humans and their thoughts:

Red: The bull’s colour

The colours we see influence our thoughts and temperament. For example, the colour red arouses the excitement and can be related to angry thoughts. It also makes the person feel a little hungry and it is no secret that many of the so many food chains have their logo with red on them.

Green: The colour to calm

How we wish to go out, maybe atop a mountain or just be given a chance to sit in nature. The colour that brings calm is the colour significant in nature. Green helps in calming the brain and spending time in nature heals the mind and soul!

Yellow: To energize

People who spend the most time in the sunlight are the happiest. It is one of the reasons why most of us were so attracted to the yellow wall from Wake Up Sid! Yellow is the colour of energy and enthusiasm!

Blue: The colour of productivity

The colour that can enhance productivity? It is no other colour than the roof on our heads in the form of the atmosphere. The blue colour enhances productivity and it is recommended that study rooms be painted with it. No wonder, looking at the sky (no, not towards the sun) awakens inner happiness!

Orange: Spread Enthusiasm

Orange is an awesome mix of red and yellow, which helps in thinking actively. Orange supplies energy and the zest required while brainstorming and thinking. It is the colour of fun and vigour!

Purple: The royal colour

This colour is a useful colour which helps a person meditate and get in touch with inner thoughts. It also helps in imparting values in a person. Purple colour is best suited if we want a separate room for meditation.

So many hues and so many moods! The colours influence our lives so much. Just by looking at some colour can change our mood and our thoughts and bring us happiness. And a happy mind focuses better, learns better and works better. Any favourite colours?
